Cubs manager David Ross was fired from Tuesday’s Crosstown series game between the White Sox and Cubs.

Ross did not say why he was sent off after the game.

“We had a disagreement. The referee and I. A fight I didn’t win,” said Ross.

Ross’s anger appeared to stem from an “egregious” unanswered passing call that was supposed to happen on the White Sox, according to pitcher Kyle Hendricks after the game.

“It was a very strange situation,” Hendrix said after the match. “A blatant disapproval that was just missed. He was obviously right and he has the right to be upset. There are things like this that can’t happen on the big points in a game.”

The Cubs lost to the White Sox at Wrigley Field, 5-3. The series during the season stands 2-1, with the Cubs owning a one-game lead. The series ends on Wednesday.
